Real Token
Overview
Real is more than a technical Layer 1 blockchain and protocol; it is also an economically sustainable ecosystem. The Real token functions as both a utility and reward asset. It secures the blockchain, encourages adoption, and supports long-term ecosystem growth. Real also drives engagement and rewards issuers through a token-powered social finance model in its Real Market App. This ensures Real is not reliant solely on speculation, but on real economic activity and adoption.
The Real token underpins the ecosystem as a:
Issuance Token: Used for transaction fees and contract execution when issuers mint new tokens. (incorporates a 1% fee on trades that goes directly to issuers and 1% to the Real Market platform)
Gas Token: Used for transaction fees and contract execution.
Staking Asset: Required to operate or back sequencers/validators.
Ecosystem Incentive: Distributed to issuers, developers, marketplaces, and projects building on REAL.

Misbehavior (double-signing, censorship) results in slashing of staked Real.
